Taoism was founded in the Eastern Han Dynasty by Zhang Daoling (张道陵), whom followers regard as a master. A central figure in Taoism is the philosopher Lao Zi (老子), honoured as Taishang Laojun (太上老君). The main Taoist classic is Lao Zi's Tao Te Ching (《道德经》). |
